FCPS Teacher Spotlight

May, 2006

Karen Berry • Clays Mill Elementary School, 1st Grade

"I strive to instill in my students a love of learning and to help them experience success. All children have their own strengths, and as teachers it is important that we find learning styles and strategies to make each student successful. It is also my duty to give each child the tools to learn. When all of this is in place, we are developing life-long learners."

Karen Berry

Lucia Brown

Lucia Brown • Picadome Elementary School, 5th Grade

"I hope to provide an atmosphere where each child feels valued as an individual, possessing unique strengths and abilities. My goal is that each student develops a better understanding of true character: self-respect, compassion and motivation to achieve one’s best."

Lisa Carr • Lansdowne Elementary School, Physical Education

"Students and teachers can learn together."

Lisa Carr

Michelle DiBenedetto

Michelle DiBenedetto • Yates Elementary School, 2nd/3rd Grades

"I was drawn to the teaching profession because I enjoy working with children and enjoy a constant challenge! Daily, I strive to give each child the best education available. As a teacher, I set the classroom learning environment by showing my students that I care for and accept each individual child. I set high standards in my classroom and expect that each child will work to the best of his/her ability. I am a life-long learner and by introducing my students to new worlds of information and possibilities, enable them to become the same."
