Freda Asher • Lansdowne, 5th Grade “My desire is to have the students I teach want to come to school everyday! I believe it is important for me to try to see things through the eyes of my students in order to best teach them. I try to think of ways to make concepts become real life experiences for the students. I believe it is very important to be exuberant and convey a love of my subjects in order for the students to appreciate and acquire knowledge. I realize the students will not always remember what I have taught them, but they will remember how I made them feel.” |

“We should have high standards and high expectations for all our students. In addition, treat all students with love and respect, and finally, always be in search for ways to make teaching more fun and interesting for them.” |
|
Mike Fannin • Beaumont, 6th Grade Social Studies “My philosophy is to make coming to school fun and enjoyable for the kids. I want to the kids to know what is in the book, but I also want them to know and understand news events that occur in the world that has an impact on them. I feel teachers should take their jobs seriously but not take themselves seriously.” |

“I try to combine a genuine affection and concern for my students with an interesting, demanding and structured learning environment. Teaching is rarely boring - or easy. I am always trying to find more effective and creative ways to help all my students do their best academically and socially.” |
|
Ronni Tallent • Bryan Station High School, Math “Every student who walks into my classroom deserves to be a decision-making member of our community. It is my job to see that they leave my classroom with math skills they will need to do just that. My hope is that maybe I can pass on my love of mathematics to some of my students.” |
