FCPS Teacher Spotlight

March 2004

Tammy HopkinsBryan Station High School, Social Studies

“My hope is that students leave my class with critical thinking and inductive reasoning skills. My goal is to provide them with the skills they will need to be productive citizens. I hope that I teach them about the importance of character as much as I teach them about social studies.”

Brenda Dillon

Brenda DillonBreckinridge Elementary School, K-5 Music, Dance and Drama

“My goal is to build a foundation of skills and knowledge, while emphasizing initiative, self-direction, exploration, and creativity. I want my students to discover personal rewards in the study of the arts, feel confident of their abilities to learn, and enjoy the process. Further, I strive to provide an environment that leads to intellectual discovery and cultural growth.”

Tabitha AtkinsLinlee Elementary School, Kindergarten

“My philosophy is to make learning as fun as possible. Kindergarten is the year that you want your students to really become excited about school. Everything is new for them. By making learning fun, it becomes so meaningful to them. They will then be able to use what they have learned in the real-world. The best part of my day is watching a child learn something new and start to smile!”
