About Channel 13
Our mission: The mission of Fayette County Public Schools Educational Television is to enhance communication between schools and the community, to enlighten parents and students as to school activities and functions and to provide educational programming for the continuous learning process.
Fayette County Public Schools Television began its programming on Cable Channel 13 in the fall of 1981. Reception of this channel is available in each school and to every cable subscriber in the Lexington-Fayette County area. We also have the ability to broadcast through the use of two closed-circuit channels to all secondary schools.
The main focus of Channel 13 is our community programming. We broadcast every week day from 9 am to 12 am, Saturdays from 8 am to 12 am, and Sundays from 12 pm to 12 am. This programming consists of events, activities and information pertinent to the Fayette County Public Schools.
Channel 13 broadcasts School Board meetings live on the fourth Monday of the month throughout the year. We have been doing this on a continuous basis since 1985. Some school board work sessions and special school board meetings of interest to the community are also televised. We also broadcast Equity Council meetings live once a month. We are no longer televising the first Board meeting of the month, which is now used only to plan the agenda for the actual action meeting.
A video bulletin board is available for advertising school events, school calendar, SBDM meetings and other significant meetings and events pertaining to the school system.
