Thinking about retirement? Thanks to the continued generosity of an anonymous donor, the FCPS Retirement Celebration Dinner will once again be held at the Keeneland Entertainment Center.

Registration is now open for the June 5 Technology Integration Specialist (TIS) Conference at E.J. Hayes Middle School.

VERB aims to get kids off the couch: Forget that old saying about the lazy days of summer. Physical education teachers and officials with the health department want to encourage kids to stay physically active. “Get Movin’” – the VERB Summer Scorecard – is the ticket to fun and prizes for 9- to 13-year-olds.

Boy takes science project on the road: Alex Walker, of Athens-Chilesburg Elementary School, probably could teach you a thing or two, at least about removing graffiti from cave walls.

StepMillcreek kids act out history: “We have turned this gym into a theater lab,” Antoinette Crawford-Willis explained to the third and fourth graders assembled in the Millcreek Elementary School gymnasium.

VPE kids learn how to be a leader: A group of fourth and fifth graders recently completed an eight-week pilot project called LeaderKid Academy, proving that leaders do come in all sizes.

StepCountry comes to town at Ashland: Daisy got a lot of attention at Ashland Elementary School, where the kids sampled farm experiences during Science Fun Day.
